The man died as he was allegedly being forced to satisfy his many wives’ demands for sex in Ogbadibo, Nigeria. A wealthy businessman – and husband of six – has died after allegedly being forced into a marathon sex session with his ‘jealous’ wives. Uroko Onoja was having sex with the youngest of his spouses when the remaining five are reported to have set upon him with knives and sticks – and demanded that he have sex with each of them too. Mr Onoja went on to have intercourse with four of his wives in succession, but ‘stopped breathing’ as the fifth was making her way to the bed in Ogbadibo. Two women have been arrested following the incident in the state of Benue last week, said the report, which used the term ‘raped to death’ to describe the businessman’s fate.

REPORT: Missing Chibok Girls Now Found in Balmo Forest

There was panic on Wednesday when news filtered in that, Boko Haram terrorists may have relocated the over 200 abducted girls of Government Secondary School, Chibok and other abducted victims from Sambisa forest to a new location in Balmo Forest, which borders Borno and Bauchi states. It was gathered that communities close to the Sambisa forest raised the alarm, disclosing that they saw a large number of Boko Haram militants leaving the thick jungle early in the day of Wednesday and driving towards the border town near Bauchi. A military source had confirmed that the security agencies had started putting in place strategies to deal with the development, while all hands are now on deck to ensure security is properly beefed up in the areas where the insurgents were believed to be relocating to.

Eto’o - Goodbye to international soccer

Cameroon’s record goalscorer, Samuel Eto’o, has retired from international football, the four-time African player of the year announced on Wednesday. The 33-year-old, who recently signed for Premier League Everton, scored 56 goals in 118 appearances after making his debut as a 15-year-old in 1997, Reuters reports. “I wish to inform you that I hereby put a definitive end to my international career,” Reuters quoted Eto’o as saying in a statement on his Facebook page. “On this occasion, I wish to thank all Africans in particular and all my fans around the world for their love and unconditional support. Find here the expression of my deep gratitude.” Eto’o played at four World Cups, lifted two African Cup of Nations in 2000 and 2002, and was part of the team that won the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.

Commander killed as Gunmen attack army camp in Bauchi

Unknown gunmen on Thursday morning attacked an Army camp manned by six armed soldiers at Wunti -Dada, a suburb of Bauchi the state capital. One of the soldiers, a sergeant and commander of the camp was killed while a private sustained gunshot on his leg. It was learnt that one of the attackers was shot and killed,but others who came on two Bajal motorcycles ran away when other soldiers opened fire. The attack occurred at about 5:20am, minutes after the Muslim first prayer of the day. Our source informed that the soldiers were taken unawares adding that “I was afraid and did not get very close to the camp,but I think some soldiers might have been injured too”. Wunti-Dada has been one of the known security challenge points within the state capital with a lot of unusual incidents. In 2010,some men and women suspected to members of the dreaded Boko Haram group were arrested there after they kidnapped the daughter of a former head of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja.

Woman and teenage girl electrocuted in Lagos

A middle aged woman and her younger sister were on Tuesday electrocuted in Amukoko, a Lagos suburb. The incident occurred at about 3.00am in the morning when a high tension wire belonging to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria fell on the roof of a house on No 8, Olumokun Street, Amukoko and sparked a fire. Residents reportedly scampered to different directions to avoid being electrocuted. However, a 12-year -old girl simply identified as Fatima, said to have visited her elder sister on vacation from Niger State was electrocuted. Fatima was electrocuted when she ran and held an iron used to stand a canopy. When her elder sister who neighbours referred to as Mama Ibrahim noticed that Fatima had fallen on the iron and was motionless, she screamed her name hoping she would answer. A 19 year old welder apprentice was caught yesterday August 19th after having sex with a chicken at the Continental area of Akure, the Ondo state capital. According to reports by Vanguard, the boy was discovered to have committed the act after the owner of the chicken, Mrs Stella Akintola, who is the boy's neighbor and reared chickens in the compound, heard her chickens making noise inside their pen and decided to go and find out why they were restless.  When she got to her hen pen, the young man surfaced from a corner and said he had stomach upset and was on his way out of the compound toilet. Mrs Akintola not suspecting anything then moved to use the compound toilet where she discovered one of her chickens lying dead in the toilet. When she tried to raise an alarm, the young man quickly appealed to her not to shout confessing that he was responsible for the chickens death and promised to replace the dead chicken. Ebola: Nigerian, two Guineans under watch in Ogun

Two Guineans and a Nigerian have been isolated and kept under close observation at Imeko – Afon, Ogun border community with the Republic of Benin. The three who entered Nigeria illegally through the porous Ogun border community, were  intercepted by the operative of the Ports Health Services(PHS) and put on close watch following the suspects’ inability to convince the officials that they had no primary or secondary contact with Ebola Virus Disease(EVD). The Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Olaokun Soyinka made this known to reporters in Abeokuta, the state capital, while intimating them on the efforts of the state government to prevent the spread of the virus in the state. According Soyinka,  the Guineans and a Nigerian, were returning  from Guinea last Friday and had attempted to use illegal route at the border when the PHS officials accosted and questioned them on their EVD status.

Dedevbo led the U-17 women national team to two quarter final appearances at the FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago 2010 and Azerbaijian 2012 respectively. A chieftain of Arewa Consultative Forum and delegate in the ongoing National Conference, AVM Mukhtar Mohammed (rtd) has said the Boko Haram insurgency and other insecurity bedeviling the nation were created by those desperate to hold on to political power in the country at all cost. He stated this during a conference of the Arewa Research & Development Project held in Kaduna on Thursday. According to Mohammed, the Boko Haram problem lingered so long because those who are at the helms of affairs lacked political will to tackle and arrest the problem at inception and it has turn to “a monster which will consume even the creators themselves if care is not taken.” He also added it was time for the North to think upright and go back to the region they received from their founding fathers in order to salvage it from numerous problems of insecurity and poverty.

Fake lawyer arraigned in Akure

Nemesis has caught up with a man who has been impersonating lawyers in Akure after he was arrested by members of the Nigerian Bar Association in the city. The man – identified as Olaoluwa Joseph was arrested on Monday while appearing as a lawyer before Chief Magistrate Olarenwaju Adesanmi in Akure. The suspect reportedly dressed in a lawyer’s suit and sat at the bar before he was apprehended after signing lawyers’ attendance register for the day. A lawyer in the court, Mr. Olomoniyo Oluwabunmi, alerted the presiding magistrate that Joseph who sat at the bar and had been appearing before the court was not a lawyer.

Boy arrested for ‘sleeping with dog’

A 19- year-old boy identified as Osagiator Ighodaro has been arrested by the police in Edo State for allegedly making love to a dog inside an uncompleted building. The bestial act happened at Iguosa community in Ovia North East local government area of the state. Osagiator was caught after a neighbour suspected the manner he carried the dog and followed him to the uncompleted building. The suspect who lived at No 13 Midwest Lane, off New Lagos road, Benin City, said he often visits Iguosa community to look for menial jobs. He said the dog followed him as he walked along the street in the community and he took the dog to an uncompleted building where he had canal knowledge of the animal. EBOLA: ECOWAS official dies from Ebola in Nigeria

An ECOWAS official has died from Ebola in Nigeria, the West African regional bloc said on Tuesday, taking the total number of deaths in the country from the virus to three. “The ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) Commission announces with deep regret the passing of a staff member of its Lagos Liaison Office, Mr Jatto Asihu Abdulqudir, aged 36,” it said in a statement. “Mr Abdulqudir, a protocol assistant, was among those who assisted the Liberian delegate to a regional meeting Mr Patrick Sawyer, who died from the Ebola Virus Disease at a Lagos hospital on 25th July 2014.” The official had been quarantined since Sawyer was confirmed as having Ebola, which has killed more than 1,000 people since the start of the year, most of them in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia. “The Commission wishes to use this opportunity to express its gratitude to Nigerian government authorities and others who contributed to managing the late official while under quarantine,”

Man kills and roasts mum in Anambra (.. Suspect accuses mother of witchcraft)

A 29 -year old- man has been arrested by the Anambra State police command for killing and roasting his mother in Ndikpa Awuka, a community in Orumba South local government area of the state. The suspect, Ekene Ucheagwu, killed 65- year- old Agnes Ucheagwu in May, accusing her of using witchcraft to prevent the family’s progress. The police  spokesman in the state, Uche Ezeh, a deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), told reporters at the office of the Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SAR) in Awkuzu that the suspect would face the full wrath of the law. He said the suspect committed the crime after he was released at Umuchukwu police station for beating the woman mercilessly. In his confession on Tuesday, Ucheagwu admitted that he killed his mother, alleging that the woman prevented the progress of her children and indeed that of the family. According to him, his elder brother, aged 45, is still unmarried because of their “mother’s witchcraft and curses on the children.”

16 ‘female bombers’ held in training

Man believed to be training female bombers was arrested yesterday in Kano. Also arrested with Ibrahim Ibrahim, were the 16 girls who security agents said were being trained as would-be bombers. Sources in Kano said the teenage girls were arrested when security men swooped on the place were they were being trained following a tip-off. Joint Task Force (JTF) officers carried out the raid. Ibrahim  is believed to be  of would-be suicide bombers. Last month, a 10-year -old girl was arrested along with a man – both wired up and on a suicide bombing mission -  in Funtua, Katsina State. There have been a series of female suicide bombings in the North in recent times. Most of the young girls are usually dressed in  hijab , under which they carry the lethal objects which they detonate at designated places. Another Lagos nurse tests positive for Ebola

Another Lagos nurse has been tested positive to Ebola Virus Disease  22 days after the first case of the virus was recorded. The newly wedded nurse was among the people that had direct contact with the late Liberian, Patrick Sawyer. According to the Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, the nurse  husband is among the 177 people placed under surveillance. He said nine people have so far developed EVD, thus bringing the total number of cases in Nigeria to 10.  Two of these two have died – that is the Liberian and the nurse while eight are alive and currently on treatment.

A Nigerian has tested positive to the deadly Ebola virus, the government announced yesterday A woman  doctor – one of the eight who had “primary” contact with Liberian-American Patrick Sawyer who died of the virus in Lagos on July 25 – is down with the virus, a test has confirmed.Sawyer, who flew into Lagos on July 20 to attend an international conference in Calabar, Cross River State, took ill aboard a ASKY Airline flight from Lome, Togo and was taken to the First Foundation Hospital, Obalende, Lagos Island where he was admitted. He died five days later. Tests confirmed that he was struck by Ebola, which is ravaging his country Liberia, neighbouring Sierra Leone and Guinea. The World Health Organisation (WHO) said yesterday that the death toll from the virus now stands at 887. UGANDA COURT INVALIDATES ANTI-GAY LAW

On Friday, August 1, 2014 a Ugandan court annulled the bill signed into law earlier this year prohibiting homosexual activities in the country. According to reports, the court said the process through which the lw was passed was illegal and therefore unconstitutional. The judgement, which was done by a panel of 5 judges said the speaker of the country’s parliament acted illegally by allowing a vote to measure despite at least 3 objections raised. AP  reports: “The speaker was obliged to ensure that there was quorum,” the court said in its ruling. “We come to the conclusion that she acted illegally.” The ruling was made before a courtroom packed with Ugandans opposing or supporting the measure. Activists erupted in loud cheers after the court ruled the law is now “null and void.” Ugandan lawyer Ladislaus Rwakafuuzi, an attorney for the activists, said the ruling “upholds the rule of law and constitutionalism in Uganda.”

Police trail Edmark CEOs’ murder suspect

The Police in Lagos have begun investigation into the murder of a business woman, Njideka Nzewe, the Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of Edmark International. The discovery of a baby placenta in the residence of a man, identified simply as Alfa Gani, is causing confusion in the Laduba community, Ogidi area of Ilorin, Kwara State. Our correspondent gathered on Thursday that the discovery was made when some volunteers went round the Laduba community to appeal for financial contributions from residents for the repair of a faulty transformer in the area. It was said that the volunteers perceived offensive odour at Gani’s residence, which they later reported to other members of the community. Boko Haram displaced over 500 persons

T  he National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said on Thursday that over 500 indigenes of Damboa in Borno state had fled to Gombe following insurgents attack in the area. This was contained in a statement signed by Sani Datti, NEMA’s Senior Information Officer, in Abuja. The statement said NEMA in collaboration with the Gombe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) registered over 500 people taking shelter in the area. According to the statement, the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), who have being stranded in motor parks and expressway in Gombe, are evacuated and registered in camps provided by the agency. It stated that the Assistant Director, Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr Saidu Minin, who represented NEMA’s Director-General, Muhammad Sani-Sidi, in a visit to the camp, urged the IDPs to be law abiding.

U.S TO TRAIN NIGERIAN POLICE

The United States government and Nigeria on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, on a training modernisation project for the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, and the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, INL, the Mission said in a statement. “This MOU represents our two governments’ mutual commitment to engagement on institutional reforms at the NPF training academies,” James Entwistle, the United States Ambassador to Nigeria was quoted as saying in prepared remarks made available to  NEWSMEN . He said the collaboration between the NPF and INL on the training project is intended to add another set of instruments to the law enforcement toolkit available to the police in Nigeria.
